 The museum will be located at 125 State Street, adjacent to the train depot. This half-acre piece of property, owned by the Redevelopment Agency, is easily accessible by foot, bike, car, bus, shuttle, and even train. We're planning a 16,000 square-foot "green" building that will include:

Barry Berkus and B3 Architects ( www.b3architects.com ) will design the building. The firm has designed more than 600,000 residences, resorts, master-planned communities, and commercial and institutional projects. Berkus projects have received over 400 design and planning awards from regional, national, and international competitions. His work has been featured in USA Today, Architectural Record, Progressive Architecture, Art News, and Architectural Digest, which named him one of the world’s “Top 100 Architects” in 1991. In 2007, he was inducted into the California Building Industry Foundation’s Hall of Fame. Susan Van Atta and Van Atta Associates, Inc. ( www.va-la.com ) will design our interactive landscapes. Over the last 25 years, Susan and her team have participated in projects that range from large-scale master planning to commercial and destination design. Their experience includes ecological restoration, campus planning and design, botanical and estate gardens, and cultural landscape restoration. The firm's projects have been recognized with many design awards, including honor awards from the national and California chapters of the American Society of Landscape Architects and the American Institute of Architects as well as publication in leading design journals. | |
